Krakow: Cloth Hall and Jagiellonina University

Begin your tour in Krakow’s beautiful and historic town centre. Boasting medieval Europe’s largest town square, you will see the magnificent Cloth Hall, St Mary’s Basilica, Wawel Castle and the Jagiellonina University, one of Central Europe’s oldest public universities.

Krakow: Kazimierz and Schindler’s Factory

Today we delve into the Jewish heritage of Krakow with a visit to Kazimierz – the best preserved Jewish Quarter in Europe. We will visit the 15th century Old Synagogue and the Remuh Synagogue to learn about the centuries old Jewish population before the Holocaust began. Explore the Galicia Jewish Museum to explore the individual stories of those who lived and died in Krakow during the Holocaust. Finally, visit the former ghetto and Oscar Schindler’s factory, to learn more about this unlikely hero, who saved at least 1200 Jews by employing them in his factory.

Oświęcim: Auschwitz and Wieliczka Salt Mines

Today we visit Auschwitz-Birkenau-the vast Nazi concentration camp, where over a million people were exterminated in gas chambers. The barracks and gas chambers are a stark reminder of a past that none of us should forget. In the afternoon, we travel onto Wieliczka Salt mines, a fascinating subterranean universe, hewn from rock and salt deposits.

Warsaw: Pawiak Prison and Jewish Ghetto

Today we visit Pawiak Prison was notorious during the Nazi occupation when it was used to imprison Poles and Jews arrested by Germans. Now in ruins, Pawiak now serves as a museum. Our tour also includes the Jewish Ghetto, the Um Schlagplatz Monument, marking the site where 30,000 were transported to the extermination camps, and memorial to the fighters of the 1944 Uprising. We end at the Old Town of Warsaw which was rebuilt after the second World War.

Warsaw: Rising Museum

Focusing on the Jewish uprising of 1944, the Warsaw Rising Museum is an extraordinary chronicle of an event that epitomizes the bravery of the Jews living in Warsaw during the Second World War. With evocative displays of life in the Jewish ghetto and the subsequent uprising, you will be transported to this time in history.

TORUN: Ilawa Lake and Teutonic Knights’ Malbork Castle

Today we travel north towards the Gdansk with a stop at Torun. Taste the local gingerbread or visit the house of its most famous resident, Nicolas Copernicus. Continue northwards for a very short stop in the Ilawa Lake District to see a miracle of 19th-century German engineering: the Ostroda-Elblag Canal. Afterwards, a sightseeing tour of the Teutonic Knights’ Malbork Castle.

GDANSK: Old Town and Westerplatte

Today we visit the marvellous Old Town of Gdansk, stopping at the Shipyards where the Solidarity movement came into being in 1980. In the past, Gdansk was the richest Polish city; at present, its old town is a favourite tourist destination in Poland. We also visit Westerplatte, the place where the Second World War started.
