On your first day we work our way west, from Museum island, to see a ghost metro station before arriving at the iconic Brandenburg Gate, a place where citizens literally pulled down the Berlin Wall in 1989. The tour finishes at the Reichstag, home to the German parliament.
See Hitler’s bunker, where you’ll learn about his last moments. See the controversial Holocaust Memorial, its monumental size awing all who walk into its labyrinth. End the morning at Checkpoint Charlie and hear stories of miraculous escapes from East Berlin when the city was still divided. In the afternoon, visit Museum Island. See Nefertiti, the stunning beauty from 3400 years ago, at the Altes Museum, and be transported to Ancient Greece at the Pergamon Museum. See a temple from the 2nd Century with friezes of colossal giants locked in combat.
Famous site of the Potsdam Conference in 1945 and Frederick the Great’s Schloss Sanssouci. You will tour the gorgeous gardens before visiting and the New Palace of Sanssouci (built in 1763), where you can slip and slide on its gorgeous marble floors and see a room wallpapered with seashells
Travel along the Romantiches Strasse with stops at medieval picturesque towns, fairy tale castles and views of the awe inspiring alps. You will be snap happy in what is easily the most scenic parts of all of Germany. One of the highlights is Neuschwanstein, built by “mad” King Ludwig II, this castle is everyone’s fairy tale fantasy. Perched on a precarious promontory, the views of the Bavarian lakes and mountains are stunning!
